NOTE: Our listings sometimes get rather lengthy. However, we continually hear from out of state / out of country buyers (the majority of our clients) that they prefer the level of detail that we provide. However, if you are not prepared to read multiple pages of description, we recommend that you review the "Specifications" on the car along with viewing the photos. Also, if you'd prefer, please call us at 925-846-1451 and we'll gladly discuss the Corvette and answer any questions over the telephone, including about our Buy it Now policies. Yes, the Corvette can be purchased prior to the end of the eBay auction. Again, please give us a call for details.

ALSO, PLEASE NOTE: EACH TIME WE LIST A VEHICLE ON EBAY WE RECEIVE COMMENTS THAT THERE ARE NO PHOTOS OF THE INTERIOR, ENGINE, ETC. OF THE CAR. THERE ARE 75+ PHOTOS OF ALL AREAS OF THIS LOTUS "11" BUT, WHEN YOU REACH WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE LAST PHOTO, YOU WILL NEED TO SCROLL TO VIEW THE REMAINING PHOTOS. IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO SEE THE PHOTOS, PLEASE CALL US AT 925-846-1451 AND WE WILL PROVIDE A LINK FOR THE PHOTOS (IT IS A VIOLATION OF EBAY POLICY TO LIST THE URL ON THE EBAY LISTING).

THANK YOU!

CLASSIC CARS LTD.

INTRODUCTION

We take pride in locating and dealing with unique vehicles of all types, and we must say, this one is on the top of the list of our all time personal favorites. Not only is it highly unique but the quality of construction far exceeds any kit car that we have seen. In fact, the car is something that Lotus would be proud to take credit for designing / building. Mechanically, the car is 100% "Fresh" and no expense was spared in making certain that it provided a combination of superb performance, reliability and handling. To say that it is a blast to drive would be, well, quite an understatment. We encourage seriously interested buyers to review the detailed specifications, 100~ photographs and other information on the "11." Of course, we will be glad to answer any questions and provide additional details / photos on the "11" upon request (925-846-1451).

We are proud to announce that within the previous 6 months, the "11" has received the benefit of the following:

 Winner "People's Choice" - 2010 All British Meet, Northern California

 Published (Including cover photo & 6 page color feature spread) - Practical Performance Magazine - UK

 Driven to the Monterey Historic Races / Pebble Beach events

 Participated in the Pacific Grove Rally

HISTORY & CONDITION SUMMARY

The list of specifications for this "Lotus 11" is impressive, to say the least. Monocoque construction, polished aluminum skinned tub (hard formed and custom designed) over a square tubular structure, professionally and properly built 1600 cc Lotus twin cam, 5 speed Sierra T9 gearbox; the list goes on and on. An inspection of the "Lotus" reveals that the goal was to complete a truly unique and high quality Sports Racer, not an inexpensive kit car or even an "11" with a small 1275 cc engine, inferior panels, old, used frame, etc. The extensive, detailed photographs speak volumes about the cars high build quality and the list of specifications document that only the finest components were utilized in the cars construction. This example is truly one of a kind and, most importantly, the "11"is very usable on the street / highway and is legally licensed and registered for use in California as a 1971 Lotus Elan (numbers correct Lotus Elan backbone chassis, engine, rear, suspension and other components).

We acquired the Lotus from the original owner builder and it has traveled a total of approximately 3,000 miles since it was completed. The body clam shells (front & rear), polished aluminum panels and chassis are totally free from damage. Frankly, every time that we look at the riveting on the aluminum panels, the construction of Monocoque construction (inside the cockpit and under the engine bay) and overall quality of the "11", we are amazed at the amount of time that was invested to create this fantastic, truly one-off performance sports car.

While the cockpit area is certainly all business, the seats and driving position are quite comfortable, even on longer road trips like our recent trip to the Monterey "Historics.". The car comes to life immediately once the race style toggle switches are activated and with a push of the starter button on the dash. There is a full complement of high quality monitoring gauges and separate fuses for all systems. Toggle switches or push buttons activate the manually operated cooling fan, lights, running lights, ignition and horn. There is an ignition key that disables the entire electrical system along with a "kill" switch mounted on the rear panel of the car (and visible in the photographs).

The handle for the Acusump is located near the transmission tunnel (to allow for additional oil flow during hard cornering), a console mounted turn-signal switch, a rev limiter (adjustable in cockpit) and a large fire extinguisher mounted behind the front seats. Both seats are mounted on tracks allowing for movement fore and aft and access to the area behind the front seats where overnight bags can be stored (actually more space that the photos would suggest). A matching Panasport tire / wheel (new) are included and can fit behind the passenger seat if the seat is in the fully forward position.

The rear portion of the car covered by the tilting rear clam shell) contains the adjustable rear suspension (also adjustable through opening in the rear clam shell), the Lotus rear end, suspension components and the 10 gallon fuel cell with quick release filler. Needless to say, the "Lotus" is strictly a fair weather vehicle and does not have top, side curtains of a tonneau cover. It also comes with the windshield wiper / washer "delete" but does have a windscreen that measures about 8" in high.

Mechanically, the car is totally sorted and free from any issues. The performance and handling can best be described in a word.fantastic. While the car was originally fitted with a Lotus 4 speed transmission, a 5-speed T9 (European Ford Sierra) later replaced it and now offers additional low end power along with the equivalent of an overdrive (5th gear). Please note that the opening in the center of the dash was to allow access to the Lotus 4 speed before it was removed. Covering the opening is the Petronix rev limiter. No panel has been made to replace this part of the dash but it would certainly be a straightforward process. As it is, there is excellent access to the wiring and, personally, we would not make the change.

The gauges are all functional and display reading well within acceptable ranges. In fact, even in 100 degree California temperature, the "11" runs very cool due to the racing style cooling system / components. The oil pressure is exceptionally high at all times. The remaining gauges work perfectly and the light near the mirror is not a shift light but an oil pressure warning light to notify the driver of unexpected low oil pressure (although this has NEVER been an issue. The gauge to the far right of the dash is a fuel mixture gauge that also works.

The combination of the extremely strong but lightweight chassis structure results in tremendous handling characteristics and overall performance. The "Lotus" is fast, to be sure, but what impresses us most is how incredibly well balanced the car is under virtually any conditions. As you might expect, it truly excels on those faster 3rd and 4th gear twisty "Lotus Roads" but is also right at home on the highway and is very tractable and usable at very low speeds. The brakes are amazing, stopping the car straight, sure and in a very short distance. There is even a full functional emergence brake.

We are the first to acknowledge that this particular "Lotus 11" is simply not for everyone.

MISCELLANEOUS

* We encourage telephone calls to discuss in greater details the condition/specifics of this Lotus .It is truly difficult to fully describe, in writing, the high quality of this particular example and some of the small things that sets it apart from other so called unique vehicles.

* We will be glad to discuss a sale of the car prior to the end of the listing on eBay, and ask that interested parties call us at 925-846-1451 for additional information/specifics.

* As with virtually all collector/specialty vehicles, we find that parts and resources are readily available for this (and most every vehicle), thanks in large part to the Internet!

* In addition to the purchase price of the vehicle, California buyers will be subject to sales tax, documentation fee, DMV transfer fees and license/registration. Out-of-state buyers will be responsible for the purchase price of the vehicle and any local taxes/fees will be the purchaser's responsibility to pay in their respective state.

IMPORTANT NOTE: if the vehicle is delivered or driven in California and driven on California roads, sales-tax, license registration and transfer fees will be assessed per California law.

* While we encourage telephone calls to discuss this vehicle in greater detail we will not respond to inquiries asking "What is the reserve". Also, if you would prefer that we call you to answer any questions about the vehicle; shipping alternatives, etc. please e-mail us with your telephone number and will gladly get back in touch with you. Also, we encourage pre-inspections but ask that you contact us in advance since we are often times away from our offices.

* As with any collectible vehicle of this vintage we are unable to provide a warranty or guarantee of condition. However, we make every effort to accurately represent our vehicles, and highlight both positive items as well as areas that require attention. We ask that prospective buyers consider our eBay history/feedback, standing in the community, length of time in business, and other factors when purchasing a collectible vehicle from Classic Cars Ltd.

* Please keep in mind that, as with any used vehicle, minor cosmetic issues/flaws may be present that add to the "patina" of the car and are a part of even the best restoration, or even a relatively new, used "pre-owned" vehicle.

PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER

As always, we recommend that you carefully review the seller's background of any collector car being sold over the Internet. We believe that it is important to ask yourself a number of questions including, but not limited to:

- How long have they been in business?

- How much experience do they have with collector cars?

- How many positive collector car vehicle sales have completed (positive EBay feedback)?

- How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle?

- Do the photos show details of the interior, exterior, top, chrome, etc. or are they simply "Glamour Shots" taken from a distance?

- Does the seller have a Surety Bond to protect the financial transaction?

- What about insurance, licensing by the state, and a local business license?

- Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, grievances?

- Does the seller enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation?

- Can the seller assist with funding sources, transport and out of state/country sales?
